According to UNICEF, there are more than 2.5 million babies died within the first month of life in just 2018 alone. Africa and Southern Asia have made up around 87.7% of these deaths collectively. Little I is a concept baby monitor device that wants to offer solution to this problem. It’s an innovation to empower parents in low resource countries to monitor the health of their newborns.
Little I Health Baby Monitor has been designed to be affordable and accessible for everyone, it is cheap and easy to mass produce, giving parents in remote areas a new way to monitor their newborns despite their lack of medical knowledge. The scenario starts with NGO buying and transporting these devices to the community and teaches them how to use it. Once a mother/carer with newborn hears about this device, they will be given one by a healthcare professional to help monitor the health of their baby.
Little I offers an effective monitoring technology with user-friendly interface. This concept device uses traffic light system to alert parents, the symbol is easy to understand and has become universal user interface. Therefore, regardless user’s age or level education, they will understand these signs to determine the health of the baby where parents or care taker could immediately seek for help when needed.
